The people of America have spoken and in the wee hours of the morning on November 9th, 2016, the new President Elect was announced. Donald Trump will be the 45th President of this great nation. The reality TV star who owns wineries, hotels, and golf courses will be Commander-in-Chief.
Some believers voted for Trump saying that he was God's choice. Others firmly believe that God was calling a woman to break the glass ceiling to lead the nation. Whatever you thought or voted, it's so important that each one of us LOVES and resists the urge to either pridefully boast or hatefully retaliate.
We cry out for revival in America. We get on our knees and pray for loved ones to be healed or saved, yet we excel at yelling our political and theological opinions at others. Maybe we are convinced that our rantings will help people, but Jesus said that the world will know we are His disciples by our love (John 13:35). He said we were to go into all the world to make disciples (Mark 16:15) yet most of us use our political arguments or combative theological discussions to convince others of what God wants.
Love is patient, kind and keeps no records of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:6-7). This is the stuff that changes people and the stuff that will change our nation. Love brings hope. Love heals.
There's a new President Elect. Pray for him. Pray for the leaders that Trump will be assembling around him. Pray for the transition this nation will be undergoing. Pray for unity. Pray for healing. And love. Love your family member who voted differently to you. Love your coworker who has a different faith to you. Love.
God is more bothered about us experiencing and radiating His love than whether our candidate won.
So let's love.
